Rajbari is a major source of jamun (black plum), with large quantities sent to Dhaka every day in season. The ripe fruit is deep purple, sweet and slightly astringent, and stains your tongue. Sellers shake the berries in a pot with salt and chilli before serving. The season lasts only a few weeks in early summer.
