Jhenaidah is a farming district of bananas, betel leaf and date palms on the south-west plains. At Barobazar, excavated sultanate-era mosques recall an old trading town tied to the folk tale of Gazi, Kalu and Champaboti, and near Kaliganj a vast banyan spreads across acres of ground.

Thin data: Molla Hotel in Hamdaha is a known meat-and-rice stop but its prices were not published; the only sourced price is Kaliganj langcha. Meal costs are set from sourced south-west figures: in a 2023 report, a cheap hotel in nearby Pirojpur served fish or meat meals at 80-85 Tk while other town hotels charged at least 100-150 Tk; Joljog in Jashore sold luchi at 7 Tk and dal or sabji at 15 Tk a plate in 2025. Allowance is made for later price rises.
