Where three rivers meet and the hilsa runs

Chandpur sits where the Padma and Meghna merge, a meeting of huge rivers that locals call the three-river confluence. It is the country's best-known hilsa town, with fish landing at the ghats every morning in season. Launches from Dhaka make the trip a pleasant river journey in itself.
