The Naldanga estate in Kaliganj was founded around 1650 by Bishnudas Hazra, a former ascetic, and his descendants held it for about 300 years. They built around eight temples here, among them shrines to Kali, Lakshmi, Ganesh, Durga, Taramoni, Vishnu and Rajeshwari. Little remains of the palace itself, but the temples have been repaired several times and are in fairly good shape, their tall towers standing together beside the old estate grounds. It is one of the better-known day trips from Jhenaidah town.

How to get there

From Jhenaidah or Kaliganj take a bus or CNG towards Naldanga (roughly 18–20 km from Jhenaidah town), then a short van ride to the Rajbari.

Good to know

These are active temples; take off shoes where asked. Combine with the Mallikpur banyan tree and Barobazar in one Kaliganj day.
