Louhajang, on the old road to Mawa, is sometimes called the sweet capital of greater Dhaka. Its rosogolla is made with thick milk from local cattle, so it comes out tender and milky rather than spongy. Halwai families here have passed the craft down for generations, and Muslim sweet makers trained by them have spread it further. Shree Durga Mistanna Bhandar, a tin-roofed shop in Haldia bazar run by Ganesh Ghosh and his son, serves it hot straight from the pan.
