The Hardinge Bridge spans the Padma between Paksey in Pabna and Bheramara in Kushtia, and was one of the great engineering works of its time. Its row of steel truss spans was damaged in the 1971 war and later repaired. Beside it runs the modern Lalon Shah road bridge, and the riverbank between the two is a popular spot to watch trains rumble across. In the dry season, sandbanks appear below and you can walk out on them.
How to get there
Go to Paksey in Ishwardi upazila by bus or train; the riverbank is a short walk from the station area.
Good to know
Do not walk on the railway bridge itself. Late afternoon gives the best light and passing trains.
