The Marine Drive runs about 80 km from Cox's Bazar town south to Teknaf, squeezed between the Bay of Bengal on one side and forested hills on the other. Built by the army engineers and opened in 2017, it is often called the world's longest marine drive. Along the way are Himchari, Inani, Pechar Dwip, fishing villages and long empty beaches where you can stop. Many travellers simply hire a CNG or jeep and stop wherever the view is good.
How to get there
Hire a CNG, easy-bike or open jeep from Kolatoli or Sugandha point in Cox's Bazar; local buses toward Teknaf also use the road.
Good to know
Go in the afternoon to see the sun set over the sea on the way back. Do not swim at unguarded stretches; rip currents are common.
