Poradaha Fish Fair

Held for one day each winter in Gabtali upazila, Poradaha Mela is best known for its enormous fish, such as boal and other big river and pond fish, brought in for sale. Families invite sons-in-law and relatives, and buying the biggest fish is a point of pride. Alongside the fish market there are sweets, toys, furniture and household goods. It is one of the most talked-about rural fairs in North Bengal.
